Class Title: Creative Writing Camp - Session 1 (7/10-7/14)
Grades: 1-3 Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm
Experience a creative approach to writing skills that are necessary for future success.
Engage in Common Core-aligned writing lessons that address audience, task, and purpose.
Practice the entire writing process: prewriting, drafting, sharing, revising, and publishing.
Work on writing skills in a 20:1 student:teacher class.
Fill your journal with creative ideas that will encourage daily writing well beyond our one-week camp.
End camp with an Open Mic celebration where students will share their published work.

Teacher: Alissa Piro
Born and raised in Northern California, Mrs. Piro met her husband while finishing her Bachelor's degree at Pepperdine University in Malibu. After completing her Master's degree in Education, she was swept away to beautiful North County, San Diego where her husband grew up. A fellow of the San Marcos Writing Project, Mrs. Piro has taught grades 1-12 since 2003 and is currently teaching English Language Development at San Marcos High while working on her doctorate. Mr. Piro is also an educator, teaching 8th grade Language Arts at San Elijo Middle. Both enjoy serving the San Marcos community where they live with their twin nine-year-old daughters, soon-to-be fourth graders at San Elijo Elementary.
