Class Title: Kids that Care: A Service Learning Project
Teacher: Jessie Arnold
While teaching is my passion, empowering students to serve their communities is close second. Throughout my 11 years teaching in San Marcos, my classes have initiated many service learning projects (breakfasts for Veterans, bake sales to benefit Lekumia research, Holiday wishes for Wounded Warriors, donations for animal shelters, and Valentine's Day cards for the elderly). I love watching students realize that they truly can make a significant impact in this world.
Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm
"You don't need a cape to be a hero. You just need to care." -Kid President
Do you have a big heart and like to help others? If so, we need you as part of our Service Learning Project team. We will be collaborating on groups (people, the environment, and animals) that might need our help and problem solve how we might be able to help them with our given time and resources. We will narrow down which project will best fit our group and get to work help those around us. Students will also leave the week with an action plan of how they might want to help their community with a project that speaks to them.
Our district is filled with students that have a passion to help others. Let's use that and sprinkle kindness like confetti!
