Sessions: Session 2 - Middle School
Teacher: Dr. Roxanne Ocampo
Session 2: 6th - 8th Grade
Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm
A college boot camp designed exclusively for middle school students (6th-8th grade). Students will learn about college while engaging in creative and fun team activities such as playing College Loteria, a mock Cooking Show, going on a Scavenger Hunt, and solving a Financial Aid Puzzle. Students will learn clever strategies to employ in middle school, giving them a leg up to map out their pathway to dream colleges. Your student will know what to do, where to go, and how to strategize 4 years of high school before stepping foot on their high school campus!
But don’t be fooled! This boot camp is led by a national college admissions expert who has coached thousands of students who earn admission to our nation’s top universities. She coached her own children who got into all 8 Ivy League campuses! And, she knows how to cleverly infuse critical college knowledge in a way that feels more like a game. Your students will gain an overview of college tiers, college strategies to employ TODAY, and skills to help them navigate this complex process. They will develop college fluency (terms and concepts), where to find information about college, and how to implement early strategies. The camp will culminate in a college version of Family Feud and teams will compete for the big title. Lots of physical movement, creative exercises, and team building exercises while learning how to be college ready.
